Java-E UK - Consumer Rights (Summary)
Your general rights as a consumer/customer are explained on this site in full, and in plain English. The laws/rights are mostly relevant to UK and/or other European companies, but similar laws are in effect in most other developed countries. This detailed description/explanation of your rights is not only shown here to help fulfil Java-E UK's legal obligations, but also to help you in dealing with other companies who may not be as clear/fair as we always aim to be.
Please note that all of these general consumer notes are given for information only as a goodwill gesture to our customers and potential customers, and Java-E UK does not accept any liability for any loss occurring as a result of this information or for any loss occurring as a result of any errors or ommisions in these notes.
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 as amended by the Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994 form the basis of your rights as a consumer (you) who is buying/ordering a product/service from a seller (Java-E UK).
As a consumer, you have the right to expect a fair and legal service/product from the seller in return for a previously agreed (prior to purchase) price.
If a seller does not give you this level of service/product, then tell them to "Read Section 13 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979"; once the seller realises that you know your rights they will almost always back down.
If the item that you receive from a seller is not what they described to you when you bought it, or is faulty or damaged, then you are entitled to reject the item and ask for a full refund - this is your right, and the seller can not legally deny it, no matter what their company/store "policy".
The basic rule in consumer law (which applies to both the buyer, and the seller) is:
Be reasonable, fair, and clear in your approach and requests. In most cases, if you are polite and reasonable then you will get exactly what you ask for on any refund/exchange/dispute.
