Java-E UK - Our Hallmarks
All items which we sell as Silver or Gold will have some of the following hallmarks on them (the numbers/types of marks on a specific item is shown on the [Details] page of the item) :
1. Sponsor's Mark (Java-E UK Identifier)
2. Assay Office (Birmingham, UK)
3. Date Letter (Year of Assaying)
4. Purity/Type (Sterling Silver [92.5% Pure])
5. Purity/Type (18 Carat Gold [75% Pure])
6. Common Control Mark (Sterling Silver)
All of these hallmarks are internationally recognised, and the combination of all the relevant marks on our items makes them instantly accepted internationally as genuine.
We use laser marking rather than conventional punch marking on all our jewellery items. We use cranked markers for rings and other arc'd items, and straight markers for other items.
At this time, we use a single uniform size of marking, with every mark being 0.5mm tall/wide, but in the future we hope to buy more sizes for larger items.

IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT: The UK has probably the most stringent precious metal and hallmarking consumer laws in the world. No items which are over a certain weight (about 7 grams) can be sold as Silver, Gold, or Platinum in the UK unless they have been hallmarked by one of the 4 UK Assay Offices, and it is the Assay Offices who perform all the purity tests for the relevant items. As we sell from the UK, we are subject to these stringent laws, and we are happy that such laws protect all UK jewellery customers, and that as a result of these laws, UK hallmarked items have probably the best provenance in the world.
